Dental Implants

If you are missing natural teeth, it not only affects your appearance, but it can also negatively impact your oral health and function.

Dental implants, made from surgical-grade titanium, are considered to be the longest-lasting teeth replacement option available.

Dentist Judith Mamah places and restores implants at Designing Smiles in Hackensack, NJ.

Find out why so many dental patients are choosing this popular teeth replacement option...

Benefits of Dental Implants

Optimal Oral Health

Because dental implants stimulate the jawbone just like natural tooth roots, they help preserve existing tissue and reduce the risk of bone atrophy.

Enhanced Aesthetics

Implants are the most natural-looking way to replace teeth. They can support crowns, bridges, and dentures without any dental adhesive, offering incredibly lifelike results.

Long-Lasting Results

Compared to other tooth replacement options, implants offer unparalleled longevity. With proper care and maintenance, they can last for several decades.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

The cost of dental implants depends on a variety of factors, including the condition of your smile, the health of your bone tissue, and how many teeth you are missing. For a single dental implant to replace a missing tooth, the cost can range from $2,900 to $4,800. To replace a full arch, the cost is closer to $20,000 to $30,000.

Our Hackensack office offers a variety of financing and payment options to make this treatment affordable on your budget. We accept:

  • Financing: Qualifying patients can finance their treatment over the course of 60 months to make their payments more manageable.
  • Credit cards: We accept most major credit cards.
  • HSA and FSA: Patients with health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts can save on treatment.

The cost of a single dental implant ranges from $2,900 to $4,800.

With a highly trained provider like Dr. Mamah, your dental implant treatment will be a great investment in your oral and overall health.

Is the Procedure Painful?

In addition to cost concerns, many patients are anxious about the pain or discomfort associated with dental implant treatment. To make your care as painless and anxiety-free as possible, Dr. Mamah offers various sedation options.

In addition to local anesthesia, which blocks pain and sensation at the treatment site, you can choose to receive nitrous oxide or oral sedation.

Determining Candidacy

During a consultation at our Hackensack, NJ, dental office, Dr. Mamah will perform a comprehensive assessment to determine if implants are right for you. Candidates must meet certain criteria, including:

Good Oral Health

To be considered for dental implants, patients must have healthy teeth and gums. The presence of tooth decay, gum disease, damaged tooth roots, or other issues can impede the success of treatment. These issues should be treated prior to dental implant placement.

Healthy Jawbone

Individuals must have a strong, healthy jawbone to accommodate dental implants. If you have sustained bone loss or jawbone atrophy, then a bone grafting procedure or sinus lift may be necessary to prepare the jaw for implant surgery.

Proper Oral Care

Dental implants do not require a significant amount of extra maintenance. However, proper brushing, daily flossing, regular dental exams, and professional cleanings are all necessary to keep your implants in good condition for many years to come.

Implant Treatment Timeline

During your initial consultation, we will conduct a bone scan using 3-D computed tomography (CT). This scan allows us to determine the condition of your bone and plan the best sites for your implant placement. For complex cases, we may conduct virtual implant treatment planning to further ensure the success of your procedure.

Based on your bone density and individual needs, we will choose between different brands of implants. We only use implants from well-established companies in the United States so that each patient benefits from high-quality materials and long-lasting results.

The specific timeline can vary depending on the unique needs of the individual. However, here are a few steps to anticipate during treatment:

Preparatory Procedures

In some cases, patients may require tooth extractions, bone grafts, sinus lifts, or other treatments to prepare the jawbone for dental implants. If this is necessary for your treatment plan, your Hackensack, NJ, dentist will let you know during your initial consultation.

Dental Implant Placement

The day of your dental implant surgery, local anesthesia is administered to numb the area. A small incision is then created in the gums to access the jawbone. Your dentist strategically places the titanium implants and closes the incision with sutures.

Healing Period

In most cases, dental implants need to heal for three to six months before the final restoration can be added. If you qualify for Teeth in a Day, you can receive your implants and your restoration during the same visit.

Abutment Placement

After the jawbone tissue has successfully fused to the implant, your dentist will attach a small connector known as an abutment. The abutment extends slightly beyond the gum line, serving as an anchor for your new crown, bridge, or denture. This may require a small surgical procedure.

Restoration Attachment

Finally, your restoration is added. This may be accomplished with screw retention or with dental cement. After this step is complete, you will be able to brush, floss, and eat with your implant-supported restoration just like you would your natural teeth.

Dental Implant Recovery

What to Expect during Healing

Following dental implant placement, patients can expect some degree of bleeding, swelling, and discomfort. Fortunately, these side effects can be mitigated by following all recommended postoperative guidelines provided by your Hackensack, NJ, dentist.

How Long Does Recovery Take?

While most individuals are comfortable within a few days after their dental implant surgery, full recovery takes longer. Every individual is unique and heals at a different rate. On average, implant treatment takes about three to six months from start to finish.

I have been a patient for a few.years now. Dr. Mamah and the staff are excellent. They understand that going to the dentist is stressful and do their best to address your concerns and make you feel comfortable. The dental work itself is top notch. Their new offices are beautiful and spotlessly clean and sanitized. I am glad to recommend this practice.
